We always have a small propane canister around for torch use. Bought this for emergency use during power outages as our home is totally electric. We just had one and couldn’t make coffee! Not good. only had for 1 week — so far I am impressed I have only had this burner for 1 week, but so far I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I love to cook with cast iron and was put in the unfortunate situation of living in a place that didn’t have any gas lines, and hence, no gas burners. Cooking with cast iron–and anything else–on an electric stove completely sucks in my opinion. So this seemed like a good solution to be able to at least have one fire burner to use.
but my camp food is pretty basic and I am typically not boiling large pots … I have tested this stove with both butane and propane fuels. It works well with both, although the butane seems to have a cleaner burn. The output is quite sufficient for campsite purposes, but my camp food is pretty basic and I am typically not boiling large pots of water or anything silly like that. I am happy with the stove so far, but haven’t had it very long. I will update this review if my feelings change.
