Wonderful grill. I am able to reach over 700 … Wonderful grill. I am able to reach over 700 degrees with only about 12 coals. It’s insane how quickly it can cook. I was able to cook a thin cut steak in three minutes, about a minute and a half on each side. It’s awesome. The grill surface is a bit small at about 14 inches of usable diameter. you could certainly do worse than the Char-Griller Kamado Jr Bang for the buck, you could certainly do worse than the Char-Griller Kamado Jr. It’s an easy way to see if you have the patience required to use a kamado style grill before splurging on something bigger.Unfortunately, mine looks like it was poorly manufactured. As you can see in the photos, the top is warped and doesn’t line up with the bottom of the grill. This causes the grill to not seal properly, and doesn’t get nearly as hot as it should.
