Broilmaster used a smaller bowtie burner when it introduced the P3X in 2011. Performance testing showed that this burner heats up quickly and maintains uniform temperatures across the entire cooking surface. The DPP101-2 replacement burner for grills manufactured before 2011 provides the same 40,000 Btu performance and the same even heating as a larger burner.
